CODE OF CONDUCT

POLICY

Aussom Family Day Care recognises the important role it plays in setting standards within the organisation and the general community in regards to upholding moral and ethical standards within children's services.

Aussom is guided by the values within Early Childhood Australia's Code Of Ethics. Underpinning all moral and ethical situations are the values of respect, democracy, courage, social and cultural responsiveness, education, honesty, integrity and justice.

PROCEDURES

Aussom FDC staff and carers agree to uphold the values of respect, democracy, courage, social and cultural responsiveness, education, honesty, integrity and justice, by working within the following guidelines in all our actions and interactions with children, families, each other and the community.

RESPECT

Ø  We have respect for each other regardless of gender, age, race, culture, religion or special need.

DEMOCRACY

Ø  We will listen to each other's views and opinions and respect each person's right to an opinion.

Ø  We will follow the Complaints and Resolution Process in a fair, consistent and democratic manner.

Ø  We value each person's contribution

Ø  We are fair

COURAGE

Ø  We will demonstrate the courage to stand up for what we believe is right and seek to keep informed of current issues affecting children and children's rights.

Ø  We will demonstrate the courage to ACT for and on behalf of children.

SOCIAL & CULTURAL RESPONSIVENESS

Ø  We seek to understand the similarities and differences we have as individuals and as communities and pro-actively promote our social obligation to include multi-cultural perspectives in family day care.

Ø  We respect each other's cultural background and are sensitive to each others needs.

Ø  We shall treat each other in a manner that shows equality for all. 

EDUCATION

Ø  We seek to share ideas and information with each other.

Ø  We seek to further our own knowledge and education.
